The 5th winter sale of the season saw 117,447kgs on offer, resulting in a strong clearance of 88%.
Young goats were in strong demand with an increase of 3-4%. All other qualities were firm. The stronger rand means a rise overall in USD terms.
The next sale will be held on 14th November with approx. 160 tons on offer.

Kid types were firm, with all others easing slightly. However, the market was more or less firm in USD terms.

The 2nd winter sale of the season saw 138,662kg on offer with 81% clearance.
While kid types were strong, up 2%, coarser types were down 2-5%.
This sale followed a strong Basuto sale on Monday 4th September where all types were well sought after.

The first winter sale of the season, 15th August, saw a mixed offering of 103,985kg with an 89% clearance.
While kid types were strong considering the worldwide economic situation, and holidays in Europe, other types were down 5-6% in rand terms.

The final summer season Cape sale saw a larger than expected offering of nearly 180,000kgs and due to the large offering prices were slightly softer for most types, however Kid combing types had good demand and prices remained firm. The weight offered this summer season has seen an increase of 15% in volume compared to 2022.

At today’s Cape sale there was a good offering of high quality mohairs, especially the fine kids. With only one sale remaining there was good competition on main types. Local currency was weaker which helped keep prices firm to dearer.

Despite a very large offering of 147,602kgs there was a strong clearance of 93% with the market holding up relatively well in USD terms. With Kid types being especially well sought after increasing 65 in SAR terms.

At today’s Cape sale there was 110 tons on offer with 93% sold under strong competition. Prices in local currency were 3-4% lower, however the prices in USD were fully firm.
