British Angora goats, responsible for producing this exceptional fibre, are raised across the UK by dedicated farmers who take great care in maintaining the highest standards of animal welfare. Mohair is known for its incredible softness, durability, and lustre, has long been appreciated by luxury textile manufacturers, yet British Mohair remains a relative unknown on the global stage. Through this new partnership, efforts are underway to centralise and celebrate Mohair textiles.

BMM has successfully collected Greasy Mohair fibre, centralised it and Seal International have collected the raw fibre in its natural state, and brought it into our mill for the initial stages of processing.
Here, the fibre undergoes rigorous grading and sorting – a crucial step in ensuring that only the finest-quality fibres move forward and the farmers are paid the highest price possible.
Grading involves assessing the mohair based on its fineness, length, and cleanliness, factors that determine its suitability for various end uses. The sorting process then separates fibres into uniform categories, allowing for consistency in the subsequent manufacturing stages. By maintaining strict quality control, we ensure that the Mohair fibres meet the highest industry standards before advancing to the next steps in production.
